Incredible India Series-the Final

In the last couple of weeks we found five caches of the series Incredible India. All mystery caches with an India theme.
In each cache box a clue was hidden for the final cache of the series (GC1NW01-Incredible India Serie Bonuscache). But to find the coordinates of the final also a formula was needed that was attached to a TB. We found this TB two weeks ago and therefore we could calculate the location of the final box.

Today before the snow-fall we got out there and found the box at 15:30.
And with this cache we earned the next banner.

Dagger Mysteries

I recently solved a couple of Dagger mystery caches and today I had some time left to try to find them.
It was very cold out there but the sun was shining so lovely weather to be outside.
The cache GC1QTH4-et BosWandelPad logged at 11:45.

And the second one GC1E20A-Achel II : 2357 logged at 12:25.
Where the box was hidden two toad where inside there, I wasn't sure whether they were having there winter sleep over there or that they fell in mistakenly so I decided to put them on the ground again, so that they could decide for themselves to go back of find another place to continue with their sleep.

The Copper Teut

For the cache GC17TH2-De Koperen Teut we first had to visit a sculpture and we needed to remember it very well, since during the rest of the cache we would be asked about details about the statue.

The main part of the walk was through forest area.

Where some of the paths were wet due to the rain that fell down the last couple of weeks.

We also walked through sand dunes.

It was a 12 km hike so a rest near the end was well deserved.

It always a little exciting to see what is hidden inside the cache box. Although we never exchange goodies, only official trackable items like coins and TBs.

Alfabet route

Ont the agenda for today one long multi-cache called GC1EH9C-VELDHOVEN 1 (de alfabetroute).
A nice walk through various surroundings ie farm land...

We had to count grey electricity boxes along the way.

Find a couple of mini-caches to discover coins and find some clues.

With success we found the box at 16:30.

Treasure of Urkhoven

In Eindhoven a town close by where we live a new series of caches is hidden recently.
We wanted to walk the dogs and decided that this series would give us the possibility to do this. It was raining so not the best weather for caching, but the dogs got to walk anyhow..
Arriving there we already spotted more geocachers, and when we started walking we discovered even more cachers. We waited a while for them to get going and once they were out of site we started the round ourselves.
When we were at the end we were followed by yet other cachers, that discovered the final box and showed us where it was.
This series consists of a mystery cache GC204BB-De Schat van Urkhoven, that actually passes by 6 short multi-caches. At those multi-caches information must be gathered that can be combined to calculate the final box location, we manage to do all this and log the final at 15:45.

The six caches of this series are:
1. GC204AA-Poel 1: Het Kamp logged at 14:05.
2. GC204AJ-Poel 2: Zicht op Urkhoven logged at 14:25.
3. GC204AT-Poel 3: Het Thomas van Rooijpad logged at 14:35.
4. GC204AY-Poel 4: Aan de Zeggenweg logged at 14:50.
5. GC204B6-Poel 5: De graslanden logged at 15:15.
6. GC204B8-Poel 6: Tussen de paardenweien logged at 15:25.

Halfway we could visit a mystery cache we solved GC1YRQ7-Cirkel found it at 15:05.
And on the way back home we came very close to the cache GC1KMQR-About Belgium another solved mystery that we decided to go for and we managed to find and log it at 16:10.
With this last cache we earned another banner for our profile.

Incredible India Series Part 2

We wanted to finish the Incredible India Series today, but first we wanted to walk the bonus cache of another series GC1HXMH-NMPS: Bonus.

We walked along side the canal.

But then we continued on paths through farm land. It was raining and it had rained a lot the last days, so the paths were very wet.

But with our boots on we didn't get wet feet.

We found the container and logged it whilst sitting in the car at 14:10.

After this walk some pick-ups of solved mystery caches:
The first one GC1YQPX-World Snooker: Grand Prix found at 14:45.

Then the cache GC1JGGR-Circle Of Tyrants logged at 15:10.

And the the three caches of the Incredible India Series, we didn't finish the series, because we missed one of the codes needed and after finishing the third it was already getting dark

Crossroads

We picked up a very interesting TB needed to solve the final cache of the Incredible India series this morning in a cache we already found before.
We wanted to hold this TB as short as possible and therefore we went for a couple of caches recently placed in the small village next to ours.
The cache where we left the TB was GC20YEN-Crossroads Waalre, logged it at 16:00.

Inside this container we found the coordinates of the bonus of this cache called GC1YN5Z-Crossroads TB&Coin Hotel, we also could find that one at 16:25.

The Wedgie Cache

When we drove to the multi-cache of choice we passed by a solved mystery cache (GC1CQG2-kan ik er OVER............WEG?) that we found very quick at 12:35.
The we drove on to the start of the multi-cache GCQP89-The Wedgie Cache.
It was a walk that brought us to a forest.

With small lakes always enjoyed by the bears.

And with sand dunes, this one with climbing tools for children.

We found the box at 13:40.

In this neighbourhood again a couple of solved mysteries to be found.
GC1YC66-World Snooker: Shanghai Masters logged at 14:05.

A mystery with a very tough puzzle GC1TCQ5-PrimEviL logged at 14:20.

A final of a small series about mills (GC1HV4Y-Lieshout en zijn Molens: Ruweelsels), the third time we tried to find it, the first two times we didn't calculate the correct coordinates, now we did an found the box at 14:45.
And then almost home a solved mystery about the Olympic Games near to our hometown called GC1VF5F-'Wie de top niet haalt, kent de vlakte niet' found the hiding place at 15:30.

And inside a very pink container.

Oud Meer

We needed to pick-up a window frame that we need for some construction work at our home.
We took the bears and afterwards we walked a cache called GC1A26D-Oud Meer. The weather was not that good and it rained a little. But the cache was fun to do. Finding all kind of information on different spots.

In a surrounding real spectacular.

And as a reward the final box at 13:10 that can be seen on the next picture with two wet bearded collies on the side.

Blankenheim Weekend

We planned a holiday weekend in Blankenheim Germany.

And of course we cached a little.
On Saturday we first visited the cache GC196EM-Die Abenteuer von Elli Ihrem Hund, a funny cache nearest to our camping site.

Some of the way-points were real tricky, but we managed to find them all.

And others were funny.

We even visited the castle to look out for a pizza hut.

And we managed to find the cache location at 13:10.

Then after a coffee and some lunch we visited the cache GC17PT1-Ahrtalbahn #3: Finkenberg Tunnel, also just a short walk from our motor home.
For this cache we had to visit three tunnel entrances on a track where once a train use to ride.

At each tunnel entrance we had to find a canister with some information to find the final box.

It was rough overgrown terrain. But a real adventure for us.

Some cachers walk through the tunnel, because entrance #2 and #3 are the end of the same tunnel, but we didn't, we walked the hard way, mainly because the tunnel is forbidden area, but secondly we didn't dare to with our two bears after all they don't wear shoes like we do.

The last tunnel was found.

And with this last gathered information we could find the cache box and add our name to the logbook at 15:35.

We took a different route back to our motor home.
On Sunday we had time left to walk a cache called GCKTFB-Tiergartentunnel, again starting not to far from our camping site.

The walk was in an area with a lot of information shown to the public.

Some of that information was needed for locating the way-point at the well. And there we found the coordinates for the final box.

That we logged at 13:00.

Venlo

This Sunday we visited the year match of the Bearded Collie Club Netherlands. This took place in Venlo and we decided to try and find some solved mystery caches on the way home.
So no long walks today just some short strokes to find the caches.
The first one GC1BFMG-CLEAR SKIES found at 16:15.

The second one GC1CJ01-STAR 1 found at 16:30

Then the third mystery of the day GC1HXEG-NMPS: Saai !!!!! found at17:10.
And very closeby the cache GC1C77A-Week 20: het cachebosje bij de Astense Aa, a traditional cache found at 17:15.

Incredible India Series part 1

We walked a little round in a cache area where a lot of mystery caches are hidden. We combined three caches into a nice walk in farm area.

The first find was the cache GC1HXFP-NMPS: Uitgebuit that we logged at 14:15.

Then a walk to the second one of today the cache GC1NVTW-Incredible India Serie #3 - Met de trein
We logged it at 14:45.

Next was a sanitary stop.

And last cache in the round of today the cache GC1NVRH-Incredible India Serie #2 - Op de weg, nicely hidden but uncovered at 15:55.

Bosveld Cache

The cache of choice for today (GCJ0Q0-Bosveld Cache) is a multi of 12 kms in Belgium, the country south of the Netherlands, but not to far from our home.

It brought us to a forest area where we had to visit a couple of way-points. At four of them we had to answer a question that needed some logic thinking, our favorite ones.

But not all parts of the forest were accessible, you wonder what can be found behind these signs. We didn't check..

We discovered the final box at 15:40 and we walked about 2 kms less than expected.

Murder Case

The cache that we wanted to do today was GC1PWBV-Plaats Delict., a cache with a murder-solve theme. We had to find a couple of clues like a food print, finger print, and a DNA sample...

The way-points were very nicely made.

And here the guys are waiting for me to solve one of the clues.

With all the clues discovered and solved, we found the box that contained the murder weapon at 14:25, so case closed.

In this area a couple of caches from the week-series are hidden as well. So taking advantage of this we found GC1A341-Week 11: de achthoekige kapel van Mierlo at 14:45.

The cache GC1HFKQ-Week 43: Erwtje 92 at 14:50

And the cache GC1ENR0-Week 31: op de brink van Hersel at 14:55.

Still early in the afternoon we had some time left to do another short multi called GC15WT9-Gebergten aka Dutch mountains.
This was a more traditional made cache with tags that display the coordinates of the next way-point, sounds easy, but due to the color and condition of the tags, made it a challenging task for us.

But we could find the cache-box at 16:15

Number 500

We planned this weekend for our number 500 cache a couple of months ago...
For this joyful event we picked a night cache (GC17BYW-Waardeloos!). It is a cache that first starts with a series of mysteries to be solved at home. These mysteries were solved in May of this year.
We invited a couple of caching camper friends.

It was a very funny cache at one point somebody had to climb a tree, so Rob went up.

We walked about 19 Kms and were out there in the forest more than 7 hours...
So the bench we encountered at a certain way-point near the end was welcomed by half of the team.

The cache-box was discovered and opened at 01:15.

Making our total caches 500
We earned the next banner:

Inside the cache box was a so-called hitchhiker cache (GC1A74-Hitchhiker 42 (Making 'Waardeloos' valuable)), it is a cache that is traveling around itself, this was our first and we logged it at 01:16 .
And after this it was time to enjoy our mobile home for a good night sleep (well actually a half night sleep...)

Sweet Seventeen

On Friday we will go for our number 500 cache. To reach this amount we still had one cache left to do. The cache of choice was GC18VZP-Sweet-Seventeen.nl a solved mystery cache. We logged it at 12:00 making our total caches found 499, ready for the big 500 this weekend.

Magical World

This week the schools are having a week autumn holiday. I took my two nephews out caching. We chose a multi-cache nearby where they live.

While walking this cache we passed by a traditional (GC1JGWM-Bomruiming Meerhoven) that we found at 13:40.

At one point we had to count big rocks laying around, but one of my nephews laid down one one of those rocks.

We found the cache GC1RXTE-De verdwenen magische wereld at 14:35.
With still some time left we tried another cache, but we had to cancel that one because we could not find one of the way-points, so reason to come back sometime.

Finishing the Triangle Series

Today I visited the third and last traditional cache of the Triangle series (GC1WN6D-Triangle I: Jachthaven) we logged it at 14:25.
With this last we were able to figure out the bonus of the Triangle Series:

For this one we had to find the correct information on the Internet to composite an email address. Sending an email to this address returned the approval to log the final cache, we logged it at at 15:20
We earned the next banner with finding this complete series.

Congo-West

We drove to Belgium today to enjoy the fun of the multi-cache (GCR8ND-Xmas-2005 : Congo - West(°)) a cache that brought us to the first way-point.

And we had to find the way with the use of pictures that were given but in the wrong order, so every crossing had to be examined with care, to figure out where to go next.

We found the final box and added our name in the logbook at 14:15.

On the drive home we passed by a location with a mystery cache that we solved (GC1TMJ5-Weerspreuken) we logged it at 15:30.

Doggy Style

For today we picked a multi with an applicable title (Walking doggy style through woodland freely translated), a cache placed by a dog owner.

And while we were walking from way-point to way-point answering all kind of questions:

We made a little detour and we walked around a ruin of a castle and found the cache GC12DWG-Gemasten 1: Kasteelruïne Asten at 14:35

And when there is castle most often there is a moat which is always fun to enter....

A little bit further another cache was hidden (GC1GZGF-Week 41: rondje om de kasteelruïne) we logged it at 14:45.

And the back to the trail of the multi-cache (GC1T4RJ-Op z'n hondjes door de "Polderse Bossen"), we could finish with success and logged it at 15:50, it was a very nice cache-box.

Sculptures in Waalre

A while ago we did a cache in a small village nearby where we had to combine sculptures and pictures of parts of those sculptures to find a cache. The cache-owner created a same-type cache and made it a series with a real bonus.
Time to find the sculptures for this cache (GC1ZF6K-'Beeldig Waalre II') it was lovely weather to walk in so no punishment at all. Found the cache box at 15:45.

Time left to calculate the coordinates of the bonus cache (GC1ZGQW-'Beeldig Waalre Final') and found this one as well at 16:00.

Geleen

This Sunday we had a walk scheduled with a lot of bearded collies. So no geocaching walk today...

Although we passed by a couple of caches that we couldn't resist. One (GC1B432-Geleen III) at the way over there within 500 meters from the parking. We logged it at 12:30.
Then we went for the walk and we passed by the cache GC1R8Z5-Kasteel Terborgh, we actually had a drink at the castle so extra funny, logged it at 14:00.

And on the way back to the car park we passed by the cache GC1EBYT-De Bruidsschat, so I jumped into the forest and wrote our name in the logbook at 15:45.

So we found three caches after all making our total caches found 487, important since we are heading for our number 500 cache next week.

Nordic Walking

This day we only wanted to go for a walk, not to far from home and not to long. The choice was GCW6VF-Anc(h)or's Nordic Walking Cache. A nice walk with one hard waypoint, where the exact spot is not clear until you find it. And we searched different information along the way, but it wasn't the correct info again and again.

This cache I tried before, but wasn't able to find the needed information then. Now we were here as a team and had more eyes to look for the information and we found it.

This time we found the cache and logged at 17:30.

But we came very close to the cache GC1WN6F-Triangle II: Engelse Tuin, the second cache from the Triangle series, that we logged at 17:50.

Eindhovens Quartet

Yet another series of caches are hidden in the Eindhoven area, and we looked at them several times. Now the time arrived to go and try to find them all.

The first were found at Sunday and I started the round with the cache most far away from home, GC1FKR2-Eindhovens kwartet (Noord-Oost), it was a little wet out there and it rained a little while we walked.

Found the cache at 15:15.

Then the second for today was the cache GCBB12-Eindhovens kwartet (Noord-West), it brought us to a piece of nature close by the Canal. We walked around a golf course and we even found a couple of golf balls for the bears.
We had to find a lot of numbers, but these weren't the correct ones.

But we managed to find all information and could write our name in the logbook at 16:25.

And then the last of the day, the cache GCBB14-Eindhovens kwartet (Zuid-West), logged it at 17:50.

Then is was to late to finish the last in row, and for sure to finish the series with the bonus, so I left them for tomorrow.
So the series continued on Monday, it was lovely weather, sunny and dry much better than yesterday.
The fourth of the series was the cache GCBB15-Eindhovens kwartet (Zuid-Oost).
Logged it at 13:40

Then time for the bonus cache GCBB11-Eindhovens Kwartet Compleet!. With the information found in the four caches a coordinate could be created that seemed plausible. It brought me to a park in Eindhoven, and indeed the cache was there. Logged it at 14:35.
And for an extra fun experience to end this beautiful day, a letterbox-hybrid called GCPDE4-VII Benkskes. Fun to do and was able to log it at 16:05.

Time to go home.

Saying Goodbye to Goedweerloper

We visited an event that was organized to say goodbye to the cacher Goedweerloper who is moving to another province in the Netherlands.
It was a nice gathering and we also walked a special event cache with some fellow cachers. In this way you get to see the faces behind the caching names, interesting...

Before visiting the event site we searched and found another of the weekseries caches, GC1GAEW-Week 38: rust en onrust – de traditional, logged at 10:10
Actually that was the exact time that the event started, so we arrived a little late.
The event cache (GC1WJDY-WWW 5 1/2 event) was logged as our number 475.
After the event ended we had some time left, and since I visited the way-points for the cache GC1THE9-'A Star Is Born' yesterday, and last night I figured out the possible location of the cache, we went for it after the event to see whether my calculations were correct, it seemed that was the case and we logged at 15:15.

Triangle

This afternoon the sun was shining and I decided to go for a trip with the bike to visit some way-points of a cache nearby. I couldn't visit all the way-points but I came close by a cache out of a series called Triangle.
This series consist of three caches hidden on spots that form a triangular shape, when looked at on a map. They contain information that should make it possible to find the bonus of the series the real triangle.

Today I visited the first of the series, GC1WN6G-Triangle III: Buitengebied, I was able to find it fast, but it was hard to open the container, but with some creativity I managed to open it after all.

Smokkelroute

Today we selected a series of 12 traditionals with a 13th cache as bonus.
This series is called "Smokkelroute" which can be translated with smuggling route. It is an official bicycle route and along the way you can find caches at interesting spots. We couldn't do this series with our bikes, so we decided to take the car and use our feet as much as possible.
This is the order that we visited the caches and the time that we logged them.

Hidden at a busy point in the village centre. We first didn't realize that is was a nano, so we searched and searched, once we figured out about the size of the cache we almost immediately spotted it.

Hidden at a monument for Dr. Anton Mathijsen, who discovered the plaster bandage that us used to heal bone fractures.

So with the completion of this cache we realized a new maximum caches in one day record, being 13 caches.

Heezerven

After the long hike of yesterday, today we wanted to walk a short distance so we picked a cache of about 4 Km, the cache GCZY5K-Heezerven.

At the start of the cache the bears could run free for a while, later on they had to be kept on the leash. So here you can see them running free.

Although the temperature tells us differently it is actually autumn, and we could spot some beautiful mushrooms already.

With all the information found along the trip we calculated the end location and we found the ammo box at 15:20.

Then some time left for visiting a couple of the week-caches in this area, the first cache GC1EYNF-Week 32: het bruggetje over de Rielloop, near a small bridge.

The box we discovered at 16:00.

Then the next was the cache GC1A9HK-Week 12: de Donck is meer dan een theater, a small container found at 16:35.

Then some caches inside a small village, the first cache GC1CM5M-Week 22: het kleine kerkje van Someren where we found a nano at 16:45.

And last but not least the cache GC1H67Z-Week 42: op verzoek – de Lambertuskerk that we logged at 16:50.

WWW 5: de Schat van Rohan

The cache we did today (GCW7QN-WWW 5: de Schat van Rohan) was already on our wish list for a long time, but the distance was holding us back.

Today was the day, after the hikes we did in France in the mountains we thought that hiking a long distance (>20 Km) on relatively flat area wouldn't be a problem.

It is autumn but looking at the weather you wouldn't say that it is. So we brought enough to drink with us. But then we ran into a lake with nice fresh water.

Although the next lake was almost dried out completely.

What great views we experienced during this long hike.

We encountered an ancient place where they kept the ice in the winter, in times that freezers didn't exist yet, this is on the premises of a castle that we passed by.

And here we are progressing towards the end of the walk. But still a long way to go.

And again we ran into a lake with lovely fresh water for the boys to enjoy themselves.

At one point we had to wait a while for a sheep herd to pass.

The shepherd and his border collies drove the sheep passed us and we could continue with our trip.

We could log the cache at 18:45.

We passed by the location of the earth-cache GC1DZA0-'t Rond Venneke, so we took the opportunity to make the needed pictures and gather the information at the spot.
We needed to take a picture with the small lake in the back.

And one with the tree on the back.

At the end we walked 22 Km and did this in 6 hours.
Time to go home and sit with our feet up.

WWW 1: de Lieropse Heide

The cache plans for today was to bring a visit to the "Lieropse Heide" a marsh area not to far from home.

In this area we cached before but then we couldn't search for the cache GC1DJ72-Week 27: vogeltje gezien, cachje gelogd because to many bikers were there. It is hidden at a shack at a protected lake area, where a lot of bird-watchers come to view the birds at the lake. Today only one watcher that entered the shack just before our arrival so we could search for the canister safely.

We logged it at 14:30 and the dogs got some water. They didn't like the fact that they weren't allowed to enter the lake themselves.

Then we continued with the multi-cache GCQ122-WWW 1: de Lieropse Heide also in this area.

The weather was hot, almost too hot. But with the water we brought with us we managed to go on.

At the stash location we first couldn't find the box, but when we read the hint we discovered that one of the bears was laying on top of the cache. So the find was there and we could log at 16:10.

France-Pierre Percée

The last stop in France was in the Pierre Percée area. We relaxed a couple of days, groomed the dogs and played in the river that we camped by.
Today is was time to drive home again, but not before finding a couple of caches near the lake, the first GC1DR58-Le Barrage de Pierre Percée

First we weren't sure whether we were allowed to enter the dam, but then we noticed a walk route sign and an entry point.

Arrived at the other site we discovered the cache box and logged it at 10:55.

It was a little bit foggy at first so therefor the sight from the cache site on the Dam was like this.

The second and last cache in France during this short holiday
GCYHBC-Le Secret De La Pierre Percée
It brought us to ruins of an ancient castle.

It was located on cliffs nearby the lake.

Although the fog disappeared it was a still a little bit cloudy, but nevertheless the view was very nice.

We were the only ones visiting the ruins at that moment.

We found the stash and logged it at 11:25

Time to start the journey home.

France: Xonrupt-Lac du Longemer

On Sunday we continued with our tour around the Vosges mountains and our destination was Xonrupt to camp at the Lac du Longemer.
Outside the camping site a hike started that lead to a beautiful panorama view where also the cache GC1CFAR-VIEUX CHEVAUX was hidden.

It was quite a hike upwards, we had to conquer different type of terrain, and paths with loosely rocks. Not easy to walk on.

But we managed to reach the top.

And after we had to wait for other hikers to leave we could search the cache-box.
We wrote our entry in the logbook at 15:45.

The hike downwards was also though considering the steepness.

At one point I even fell on my bottom and ruined the GPS. A big scratch is now present on the screen oops....

The loose rocks were hard to climb up but even worse to climb downwards.

But we managed to reach the bottom of the hill again, to rest at the camping site that was very close by.
On Monday we made a hike around the lake. It was a hike of about 7 Km, but we didn't need to climb a lot so that was welcoming after the hike of yesterday.

We passed by the cache GC1QQB4-Le brochet de Charlemagne where we searched for a while because the hint (rocks) wasn't very helpful with all the rocks over there.

But we were able to found it at 13:00.

Then we passed by the start of the short multi-cache GC1RR45-L'ermite Bilon, the first way-point was at a lovely chapel.

At one point the bears could swim in the lake, which they always enjoy doing.

And we found the stash at 14:00.

France-Eguisheim

On our way towards the next camping site we visited the castle Haut Koenigsbourg, near this castle the cache GCM9PJ-Haut Koenigsbourg is hidden.

The castle from the outside, we couldn't enter because the bears weren't allowed inside.

Time for some coffee before searching the cache.

Logged the cache at 13:25.

Then back to the motor-home to drive to the camping site. Toby started shaking his head and howled of pain. I thought he had a grass seed in his ear so we searched for the closest vet. They told us that he had to stay over, to get the seed removed under anesthetic. After good thinking we left him there with pain in our hearts.
So in the evening we walked through the village where we were staying with only one of the bears.

For the cache GC11BR5-Eguisheim we had to take the backstreet, that actually felt much like the middle ages.

Found it at 19:25

Next on the agenda was the cache GC1R3KM-Eguisheim - Madonna a traditional hidden at a Madonna statue and found at 19:30.

But the main target of this evening was the multi-cache GC1V41V-Eguisheim - Rue du Rempart for which we had to stroll in this beautiful village.

Saturday we picked up Toby from the vet in good health and we could relax a little. After dinner we walked around in the area and found the cache GC1TWK2-Eguisheim - Lost Place.
The cacher describes it as the most ugly place in Eguisheim and it was ugly indeed.

But in the dark hole we could find the canister at 19:15.

France-Saint Dié

Wednesday we arrived in France and the first town we stayed was Saint Dié in the state Lorraine.

We found the canister at 19:35.

After eating an ice-cream we went for the cache GC1QAXG-SAINT DIE #2: La Cathédrale that we logged at 20:10.

Thursday again time for a longer walk, actually a hike towards the mountain tops.
First we walked upwards straight from the camping site.

We passed through a little village, in the back the hill is visible that we hiked. At the top a pole is visible, that we visited for the second cache.

The bears found enough water in the little streams, they needed it since it was a warm day. Of course we brought water with us, but they like water from natural sources better.

We walked up and up, sometimes we almost had to climb up.

But this resulted in beautiful sights down from the hill.

And after a tough hike we reached the top where the cache GC1G6D1-LA ROCHE DU SAPIN SEC was hidden.

That we found cache and wrote the logbook at 15:40.

Next on the agenda was the cache GC1G6D6-LA ROCHE DES CAILLOUX, not to far from the first one.

We found this one as well and logged it at 16:15.

Again astonishing views on the area.

Luxembourg-Diekirch

On Monday we arrived in Diekirch and early in the evening we walked towards the center area to find the cache GC1NDH7-Diekirch - Die alte Sankt Laurentiuskirche.

The cache was actually hidden like this. Not seen very often.

We logged at 19:05, the boys were watching while I wrote the logbook.

Then another cache hidden in the town centre GC1NDGW-Nanocache zu Diekirch – Den Ieselsbuer
This was a nano as the name of the cache describes, we had to search a little and found the container and could log at 19:15.

Tuesday time for a longer walk in the hills surrounding Diekirch, we walked the multi-cache GC12JW4-DEIWELSELTER

It was a warm sunny day so we were glad that we could walk around under the trees on this hill, and that we could sit down and recover a little.

This was the actual Devils spot, that gives its name to this cache.

We had to climb a little more to reach the last way-point and the cache box that we found at 14:30.

WWW2-De Lange Bleek

On the road it rained a bit, but we couldn't hide for it, since the Highlanders got the best spots under the trees. And it is not advisable to approach them so we got wet and they stayed dry, but we didn't mind at all.

And on the way back to the car we ran into some Highlanders again, aren't they great creatures. We love them.

De Grote Beek

Today time for a letterbox-cache (GCNARC-De Grote Beek) that is located on the premises of a mental hospital in Eindhoven. It is a big place with several forest areas, we visited three of those.

In earlier days this was a closed institution so walking around here gave a special feeling. You see patients all over and since I was caching alone today, I looked back a couple of times to see whether nobody was following me.
The cache was found, always a good feeling and it was a fun adventure.

We ran into some crazy birds. On the next picture you can see a turkey acting like a goose. First I didn't notice him in the group and then I saw that it was no goose at all.

Bontven en Witven

At home the wooden floor needed another layer of paint, therefore it was best to go caching with the bears. We chose the cache (GCVJ76-WWW 4: Bontven en Witven), a 8 Km walk in meadow area.
Sheep are grazing there.

But also highlanders crossed our path.

At one point we had to wait for a calf to get back to his mother before we could pass by, we didn't want the mother to get upset and attack us or something.

We continued with the nice walk in actually nice weather, not to warm.

We found the box at 13:50. Then we had to drive home, because the bears drank all the water we brought with us, in this meadow area there was no natural water source that they could use.

Vessem

Today it is just me and the bears going caching.
We first went for the cache GC1FJG6-Water vlug, a multi-cache in forest area.

We were able to find the final box at 13:15.

The next challenge was to finish the cache GC10QEN-Cache Halfmijl we started earlier but we couldn't find the information at the first way-point.
Earlier this week we gathered that information and I shot this picture, it looks like a photo from a safari trip.

At home I calculated the coordinates for the next way-point and we could continue today. We found what we were searching for and we could calculate the final coordinates.

Where we found a ammo box at 14:40.

Then we drove by the cache GC15MJM-Dommelkespad and we decided to walk this one as well.
It was just a short walk of less than 2 Km and we found the stash box at 16:00.

Spoordijk

Last Friday I made a bicycle trip along the canal, the first cache visit was the cache GC1MC2P-Rondje spoordijk, for which I had so solve a lot of puzzles at home, but I wasn't able to find the stash-box at the end.

I decided to take a look at it at home. I did and I saw no mistakes, I mailed the cache owner and it seems I gathered the correct information but made an interpretation error with the calculation of the ens location. After this help I made a new calculation and decided to take a look today.

I found the box at 16:45.
On my way back home another cache (GC1J8JK-Ab Imo Pectore) got my intention, it was a front-yard cache and I found it at 17:05.

The Lonely Knight

In the neighbourhood of Laarbeek a cacher named Nekrav is active. He is famous for his Mystery caches, some very difficult. One of the most famous caches is "The Lonely Knight", that I already looked at a couple of times. Made some progress but got stuck. Last week the successor "Return of The Lonely Knight" was published, for me a trigger to solve them both. I managed to do so and today was picked for the field work.
On our way over to the first of the knights caches we picked up the cache
GC1DFW0-Blik op Laarbeek 1:Aarle-Rixtel) at 15:20.
And the cache GC1DFWD-Blik op Laarbeek 2:Beek en Donk at 15:30. With these two we have found all four of the series "Blik op Laarbeek" and can try to find the bonus.

But back to one of the main targets of today, the cache GC1WVQC-Return of The Lonely Knight, we found it at 15:55.

That was one of the knights, now we are allowed to show the next banner:

Next up to the second knight, but first we passed by the cache GC1JDFP-Week 48: zo, nu eerst een … cache that we logged at 16:25.
Then we could find the bonus cache GC1DFZ3-Blik op Laarbeek 5:Bonus and we logged it at 16:35.

And then final the second knight cache (GC1D6MT-The Lonely Knight), logged it at 17:00.

EKP Series

This afternoon I decided to take the bicycle and make a tour along the canal from Eindhoven to Helmond.
A cacher had made a series of 10 mystery caches (EKP) with simple puzzles hidden on both sides of the canal, that can be reached best by bike, since no cars are allowed there.

The cache (GC12PKN-EKP 10 - Stappenteller) logged at 15:25.
The cache (GC12PKA-EKP 7 - Coordinaten) logged at 15:35.
The cache (GC12PK2-EKP 6 - Legpuzzel) logged at 15:45.
The cache (GC12PJN-EKP 4 - Satellietpuzzel) logged at 15:55.
The cache (GC12PJY-EKP 5 - Weetjeszoekpuzzel) logged at 16:00.
The cache (GC12PJD-EKP 2 - Sudoku) logged at 16:10.
The cache (GC12PJ4-EKP 1 - Willie Wortel) logged at 16:25.
The cache (GC12PJH-EKP 3 - Japanse Puzzel) logged at 16:30.
Also in the neighbourhood of the canal two caches not from the series but ready to found (GC1G3X1-Week 37: de oude trambrug over het Ehv. kanaal) logged at 16:45 and the cache (GC1TMVE-Legosteentje) logged at 16:55.
Then back to the final two caches of the EKP series.
The cache (GC12PKD-EKP 8 - Kakuro) logged at 17:15.
and the last one (GC12PKH-EKP 9 - Decoderen) logged at 17:35.

Then cycling home, the result was 12 caches found, and 55 km with the bicycle. And a lot of resting to do in the evening.

Alchemy Series - Finish

We started this series of caches last week and wanted to continue today.
We found the first elements, and today it was time for the alloy caches, mixing until the Gold cache.

We went with half of the team. So only one bear present.

We found the first alloy (GC1JE23-Alchemie - Soldeersel) at 13:25.
The second (GC1JE28-Alchemie - Zout) at 13:40.
The third (GC1JDMY-Alchemie - Staal) at 14:05.
With this on we had the second line complete.

Then we could calculate the coordinates for the next caches.
The first one (GC1JE2A-Alchemie - Kwik) logged at 14:45.
The second one (GC1JE2B-Alchemie - Zilver) logged at 15:00
And now it was time to go for the gold. The cache description gives two cache locations, the first one we tried gave us no gold, but the second on did.

The last final cache (GC1JE2C-Alchemie - GOUD) that we logged at 15:30, when we discovered a nice golden ammo-box.

Yessss now we know how to create gold....

The Order of Geoknights Part I

Today it was time for our 400th cache.
For this special occasion we picked a 5-star cache with a nice theme, becoming members in the order of Geoknights (GC1DF53-De Orde der Georidders deel I). For becoming knights we have to visit a second cache as well but first this one has to be completed and after that we can start making plans for the second night-cache.
We prepared ourselves well, the counter of found caches was 398, because on the route 2 traditional caches can be found.
At home we thought about what to expect at the start, since a puzzle had to be resolved there.

What we expected was correct, so with just a little puzzling we figured out the coordinates of the next way-point.

At most of the way-points we had to use our brains real hard, but we managed fine.

And then we needed to visit an Inn and find a tag there, but we couldn't search there because a film crew was shooting a documentary about the middle ages and modern Geo-knight didn't fit in that story.

We phoned the cache-owners and they helped us by giving the coordinates of the next way-point so we could continue with our quest.

The way-point were fantastic and fit well in the story about knights.

Time to visit one of the caches that we could find in between, (GC1EP41-Ridder Prosper), logged this one at 13:30.

And also the second cache (GC1EP40-Ridder Konstantin) was later discovered and logged at 14:50, this made our total caches found 399, ready for the last one, the target of today (GC1DF53-De Orde der Georidders deel I).

Here and there we could find some water for the bears to enjoy.

And we had to pass this water over tiny "bridges" which one of the bears didn't find funny at all.

After a couple of more way-points we started to approach the end of the challenge.

And with the information gathered we could find the final box at 17:00.

We were tired after a hike of 6 hours and so were the bears.

The youngest bear is sleeping when we log the cache.

On the way back to the car time to go into the river one more time.

We earned the next banner with this quest:

And last but not least we visited the last knight traditional (GC1CYVQ-Ridder Bratislav) at 17:50.

Driebergen

For a couple of weeks I'm working at a client in Driebergen, and there some caches are hidden, I decided to try to find a couple of those caches after work. The first one was the cache (GCP98D-White Cross), found at 18:10.
The second was actually a real treasure hunt, (GCXF4P-De Schat van Scharlaken Skoenoe), since I needed to use a real treasure map to figure out the last part of the path. But I could find this one at 18:20, and the box looked like a real treasure chest.

Week Series continued

The first one (GC1DJ7Q-Week 28: het onderduikerskamp “Dennenlust”) logged at 19:50. This was a secret refuge place in World War II so very special indeed.
Next a cache hidden near some meadows, GC19GJM-Week 8: dorpszicht vanuit het boerenland), while logging at 20:20 we had some spectators.

Up to a couple of hit and run caches, the first (GC18Y27-Week 5: het verborgen stroomhuisje) logged at 20:45.
Then the cache (GC195AY-Week 6: Oorlogsmonument "de zwerfkei") logged at 20:50.
And the last of the day the nano cache (GC185TD-Week 1: stuw aan de bochtenweg) logged at 20:55.

Alchemy Series - Part I

In a forest near the Zolder race circuit a series of caches is hidden with an alchemy theme.
The idea is to find 8 elements. That can form alloys when combined by the two of them. So there will be 4 alloys caches. See the next picture.

Today we wanted to find the first 8 caches.

The first we found was (GC1HR1V-Alchemie - Koolstof) at 13:50.
The second was (GC1J6KY-Alchemie - Koper) at 14:15.
The third was (GC1J6H6-Alchemie - Natrium) at 14:35.
The fourth (GC1J6MA-Alchemie - Tin) at 14:50.
The fifth (GC1J6MF-Alchemie - Zink) 15:10.
With ths one we could make our first alloy combination and the result brought us the coordinates of (GC1JE1Z-Alchemie - Messing) that we logged at 15:45.
Then back to the first line of elements.

The sixth element (GC1J6KR-Alchemie - Chloor) logged at 16:40.
The seventh (GC1J6M5-Alchemie - Lood) at 17:00.
And the last one of the first line (GC1J6KX-Alchemie - IJzer) at 17:20.
And with this last one we succeeded in our goal for today.
Then we drove home and passed by (GC134QH-Co&Co: Allé, Sund och Gata?) that we found at 17:50.

Keelven

Today the main cache to do was (GCVGQK-KEELVEN), a cache in an area that was production forest, but has been redesigned in an area for people to enjoy the environment. Lakes have been formed and the straight paths have been changed in curly ones.

At different places benches have been put to sit down and enjoy the nice views.

After a fun walk we could log this cache at 16:20.

Time left for some traditionals in this area so we did a little detour to the car and found two caches on the way.
The first one (GC1BZGM-Week 19: het achterland – verbindingspad)
Logged at 16:35.

The second one (GC1DG99-Week 26: het Osserijk en de Keijepaol) logged at 16:45.

Then back to the car to visit the cache (GC1K3TJ-Week 52: op verzoek - bij de oude grenssteen), near a "border stone".

Logged this cache at 17:10.

And then driving by the cache (GC1F3FH-Week 33: binnendoor naar – Nederweert en Maarheeze) near a small chapel.

Found the container at 17:20.

And then the final of the day a hit and run cache (GCHA47-Hg & dirty 1 (Driebos)) logged at 17:35

De tuin van Sinkel

Today the main cache to do was the multi-cache GCJRQF-De tuin van Sinkel. A cache where the major part is performed in a park in Eindhoven.

In this park certain statues and trees had to be found and part of the coordinates needed to be used for calculating the location of the end stash.

The sun was shining so it was a very pleasant afternoon in the park that ended with a found box at 16:10.

Time to pick up a solved mystery-cache GC1AA7F-Een spitsvondig spel) logged at 16:20.
Then on the way back home a traditional (GC1PCX8-Scouting Stratum Cache) that wasn't easy to reach the start point. My navigation system didn't quit know how to handle this. The cache was easier to find because of the wood pile on top of it, I logged it at 17:30,

And then finally the nano cache (GC1RC7R-Hiep Hiep Hoera)
close by home, I logged it at 17:50.

Week 50

This weekend we went away with our motor home, returning home this afternoon, we only had time for a short walk and visited one of the week caches, (GC1JRV8-Week 50: pad langs de velden in het bos).
The weather wasn't that great, it had rained a bit.

But nevertheless we discovered the container at 16:45.

Castricum

We went away for a weekend to the coastal area of the Netherlands near Castricum. On Saturday we wanted to walk around in the area and visited a couple of caches. The first one we could log at 15:00 was (GC1D0YR-Diervriendelijk) a mystery that we solved at home.

But the major task of today was the multi-cache (GC1CNJK-KIJK UIT, de Papenberg).

We could sit down and relax while gathering needed information.

The name on the house to which the cache is named (Kijk Uit) which means watch out.

Behind this gate is a bunker in which the famous painting "De Nachtwacht" from Rembrandt survived World War II.

These stairs brought us to the Papenberg, which gave us a nice view of the surrounding area.

At the end the boys where tired and thirsty.

Kleine Beerze

Last Sunday we wanted to find the cache, (GC1TNF2-Kleine Beerze Duizel), but we couldn't figure out at the start what to find. We gave up an back home we found out the half of the description was missing in my GPS. That explained why we missed out on what to find.

With the pictures we accidentally made on Sunday we could figure out the location of the next way-point and today we decided to go for it.

The two way-points we had to find contained a ingenious mechanism to show the cache info. One of us had to produce energy and the other one could read the needed information. We found the final box at 19:30.

Zwartebergen

Having to sit inside for the whole day and considering the long summer evening in front of us, we decided to go for the cache (GC19NNY-Een rondje Zwartebergen), we tried to walk this one earlier but we didn't bring the photo's that we needed for this cache then, so we had to come back. Today was the day.

We had to find some tags here and there.

We walked in a beautiful area.

And could even say a prayer at a small chapel.

Walked in forest area.

And in marsh area.

And at the end we were able to combine all the found information to find the final box, we succeeded and logged at 21:50.

Mysterious Past

During a long lunch break I walked the cache GCA36C-Mysterieus verleden / Mysterious past.
A cache where you have to visit different way-points where several questions have to be answered but it not exactly given which question belongs to each point. And multiple questions could belong to multiple way-points. But after visiting all points is should be clear.

Because at some of the way-points only one question fits.

Each question was only used ones.

After visiting all the points I could come up with the cache location, my first guess.

And this was the correct location, although I had a 20 meter difference on the GPS I found the box and logged at 14:20, time to return to work.

De Cachebus

We figured out a route on which a series of caches is hidden, the first one (GC12MYQ-Dat gaat naar Den Bosch toe - 2) logged at 12:45.
The second (GC12MYR-Dat gaat naar Den Bosch toe - 3) at 12:50.
The third (GC12MYT-Dat gaat naar Den Bosch toe - 4) at 13:00.
And the fourth (GC12MYV-Dat gaat naar Den Bosch toe - 5) at 13:10.
That was the first part of this series, we will come back another time for the other half.
Then we wanted to uncover the solved mystery cache (GCQR5Q-Coördinaat puzzel), that was hidden in a tree stump.

We added our name in the logbook at 13:15.

Then we logged the cache (GC1ERKD-GEOCACHE TEAM QUIZ) at 13:40.

And the the actual goal of today the cache (GCR1VG-De Cachebus), a mystery that we looked at over and over and couldn't figure out how to solve, until while talking about it with another cacher got an idea on how to solve it and that was a correct thought.

We found the final stash box with the color purple at 15:00.

Then on the way back to the car we picked up (GCGHZP-Jagershagen 2) at 15:15.

And driving home we passed by the cache (GCV4DN-GeenJapansePuzzel), also a mystery that we solved at home.

Hidden near a small river that we logged at 16:10.

Water, Vuur en Eieren

In Eindhoven a city nearby where we live the five star mystery cache, (GCJQ1A-Water, Vuur en Eieren) is hidden.
We had to visit 9 points to gather some information, but we didn't know upfront what we were looking for. At one point we had to gather extra hints on a piece of paper.

This extra info should help us at the stash location to figure out the exact spot with this next found egg.

But our coordinates were accurate enough to find the cache-box without this information at 15:10.

Nekrav's Mysteries

In an area that we cached before a couple of caches of a cacher Nekrav, most of then are difficult mystery-caches but also the cache (GC1RDJC-Latijn Dilemma 50 v.chr.), we tried to find this one some while ago, but we didn't realize at that moment that it was a multi-cache. We tried to find the cache at the start-coordinates with the use of the hint and that wasn't successful of course. Today we walked the short route and were able to find the cache at 15:50.
Then we discovered another cache at a distance of less than 1 Km. But is was on the other side of a canal. There were constructions going on so we had to drive for almost 20 Km to arrive at the start location.

But nevertheless we wanted to find the cache (GC1KZKA-Dead Tree). When walking towards the stash location I ran into a bird of prey that was sitting on a pole drying its wings, because it just rained a little.

Next I had to jump across a not completely dried out riverbed aka a mud pool.

But finally found the container and logged at 16:40.

And the last one for today was the cache (GC1F15B-Gwynvyd), another mystery cache.
The entrance of the path was completely overgrown with thistles and other thorny plants, so the bears needed to stay outside because otherwise they get stuck with their long coats. But behind this overgrown area a very nice and a little bit spooky forest arose.

The container was closed with a lock, for which we didn't bring the code, but with a little patience I figure out the code and logged at 17:45.

This Saturday was a special caching day, at the end of last year a book was published in the Netherlands with Geocaching as theme.
In this book a couple of cachers disappear while doing the cache called (GCDAFD-Het mysterie van de drie zusjes), this cache exists for a couple of years and is one of the most visited cached in the Netherlands with a lot of Geo d'ors (rewards by cachers).

What a cache, fantastic what a way-points. Here some examples, I'm trying not to give away too much, but it will spoil for those not yet visited the cache.
The farm house were the 3 sisters lived with their parents.

The hang place of the father of the girls.

And the grave where the 3 sisters are buried at the end.

We logged this one as our number 350 at 14:10.
Inside we found a whistle with the name of the cache painted on it, and although we normally do not trade goodies, we couldn't leave this whistle behind.
The many rewards that this cache gathered are well deserved. What a fantastic way points that perfectly fit the story.

The mentioned book itself contains hidden information about another cache GC1M564-d3Z - de hemel of de hel.
When this information is discovered the cacher can get in contact with a certain character called gioman. And Gioman informs the cacher about the cache. The cache consist of three parts. First the home part, where the cacher has to figure out a couple of things with the information inside the book. If this is finished successful the second part can be done, which is a walk through Wageningen, the village that the book is about.

The walk brings the cacher to a couple of the locations that are mentioned in the book and information has to be gathered here. With this information the point-of-no-return can be figured out and here starts the last part of the cache the part in the woods.

This last part we did today. It brought us to a nice forest, and we had cloudy weather with a little bit of rain now and then. This made the forest look a little spooky and this was the right atmosphere for this cache.

We even met Gioman on the road, or at least a sculpture.

And almost at the end of the cache we are gathering the last needed information to see whether we could escape from Gioman.

At the end he almost got us..

But we managed and could log at 17:10.
What a fun adventure we had with this cache, for which we earned the next banner, that we will carry with pride.

Roundabout

For my work I had to travel across the country, and in that part of the country the cache GCNRGQ-Rotonde) is hidden. I was pointed towards this cache by another cacher a while ago and I became very curious about it. This was the opportunity to take a look at it.

First I had to find four mini-caches that contained tiles with letters that needed to be combined into a word. Fortunately the letters were also given for the German and the English word, so it was not too hard to figure out the word needed.

With this word I could figure out the position of the cache-box. What a great way to hide a cache container. Never seen that before!

I could add our name to the logbook at 16:10.

In this part of the country also the mystery cache (GCQCG2-Theyeti 7 : Heptagram) is hidden, one that I solved a while ago. The start coordinates on the geocaching.com site are located in an area that we visit once in a while, but the calculated coordinates are in a totally different part of the country. In the period this cache is hidden it was probably allowed to do this.

It brought me to a very nice wetland area, where I needed to walk over a wooden path.
I found and logged this one at 16:45

And then driving home, I made a little de-tour to try to find the cache (GC1M62H-Rashonden ter Wereld).
It is hidden in a nice area that was lovely to walk in.

When searching for the cache I slipped into a hole with one of my legs, and almost couldn't get out. That was a little adventure, being alone out there, far from home. But I managed to free myself and could continue with the search.

Found the box and logged our name at 19:00, time to drive home.

Treasure Hunting

We had sleepovers this weekend, our niece and nephew. They wanted to go treasure hunting so we picked a cache with a treasure map (GCNZPP-De Schat van de Freule in de Heerlijkheid Heeze).

We walked around a castle.

And first had to find the treasure map.

That we found, and this map brought us to some more way-points.

With beautiful old trees.

And finally the cache box that we found at 16:00. Where the kids enjoyed investigating the content of the box.

The next day we visited the cache (GCGAP2-Idefix).
A walk in a forest area, today it was raining a little bit, but we didn't get to wet.

The bears did get wet, but this was caused by the lake that they visited.

And again we were successful in finding the stash at 14:45.

Then our nephew still had some energy left, we went for (GC1V6ZG-'Beeldig Waalre') a cache were we had to visit different sculptures and had to link them to the pictures we brought with us.

So while half of the team enjoyed a drink in a bar the other half of the team discovered the cache at 16:30.

Scoffie Caches

Today a Scoffie Mystery Solve Cache Tour.
The first four are of a series of picture caches with the right website very easy to solve. The caches are laying in the same piece of forest, so we made a small round and found the four of them. The first one, (GC1P5GE-Cache Revolution - (1) - Women) at 16:50.
The second, (GC1P5GG-Cache Revolution - (3) - Books) at 17:05.
The third, (GC1P5GH-Cache Revolution - (4) - Random) at 17:15.
And the fourth, (GC1P5GF-Cache Revolution - (2) - Men) at 17:25.
Then up to two caches of the Sudoku Series. The first, (GCPQ4D-Sudoku3 (hard)) found at 18:20, the second, (GCPQ2Q-Sudoku1 (easy)) logged at 18:45.
And then the last of today, the first of a series of browsing puzzles, from which this one the only one I could solve, (GC1AND3-Browsing Puzzle 1), found this one at 19:15.

Akis Agis Part II en III

Last week we found the first of the series, tonight it was time to go and find the second (night)cache, (GC1Q0N4-Adventures of Akis Agis part 2:Milenko's nightwalk), we started on Friday evening at 23:00 o'clock and wanted to go for a couple of hours to continue on Saturday evening.

But it was so much fun and we got eager to find the stash this night that we continued.

We finally found the cache-box at 04:25, and we drove home with a very good feeling.

The third part we tried to find that one as well in the dark, but we failed. On Saturday afternoon we went back to this area to find that one and another solved mystery cache, (GC1TEEB-Sciagram).

We found this cache box at 15:25.

Then it was time to visit the third and last of the Akis Agis series, (GC1QFG0-Adventures of Akis Agis part 3:The Jeckyll Riddle). We had to search at a reflector in the shape of a hand. We found the next reflector, but it turned out to be the wrong one.

This one was the correct hand.

Once that was discovered the cache box was discovered as well at 16:50.

Then it was time to head back home to relax a bit, because we didn't get much sleep this night.

Vind de Wind

Today was the day for the cache (GC1N4NV-Vind de Wind).
It was a walk in a nice area that we partly visited before for another cache.

This time the bears were allowed to enter the water.

And here's the witch tree again. The bears are relaxed to be here so we don't believe that a witch buried underneath the tree as the tail tells.

We visited a little chapel that contains some wood art that pictures Franciscus of Assisi.

And nearby this chapel is a bench where we sat down to take a rest.

We made a mistake in the calculation of the stash location so we looked and looked but didn't find the box. We drove home and discovered the mistake, so early in the evening we went back and found the beautiful cache box at 19:45 after all.

Akis Agis Part I

This Saturday we went for the first cache of a series of 3 caches, that are based on an alien Akis Agis. The first is a day-walk (GC1QGR4-Adventures of Akis Agis part 1:Hocus's Daywalk) in a nice area.
We first had to configure the start coordinates by solving a puzzle.

We visited different way-point where we had to solve different type of puzzles, like this one:

We walked through a very nice area, which we always enjoy, that's the main reason for us to geocache.

But the combination of finding way-point and figure out how to get to the next point increases the pleasure we experience.

We found the final stash box at 15:45 making this our number 326 find.

Then we had some time left to visit a very special place (GC19EJW-Lourdesgrot). We visited this place before but weren't sure on the final stash location. Back home we checked the answers and concluded that the location was correct.

So today a simple pick-up at 16:10.

Next finding the second of a series, (GC1DFXT-Blik op Laarbeek 4:Lieshout) at 16:35.

Up towards the next out of series of mills, (GC1ENK7-Lieshout en zijn Molens: De Leest), of which we did the first a couple of weeks ago.
We logged it at 16:40

Keeping to the mill-theme we found the cache, (GC1N33T-De Roosdonck)
at 17:25

And then another Mill-visit, the final location of a mystery cache about mills, (GC1KG5N-Molens van brabant), found at 17:40.

On the way home we passed by another solved mystery cache, (GC1AWTW-A Cache in Eindhoven), that we logged at 17:50.

Theyeti 3: CLRYB CRTUS

The cache (GCMV4Z-Theyeti 3: CLRYB CRTUS) we already walked on May 9th. To reach the start of the cache was a difficult exercise on it's own. A highway is built over here and the parking place and the first part of the route are separated by this highway under construction. Our satellite navigation system couldn't cope with this, so it took us almost an hour to find a parking spot not to far from way-point 1.

Here and there we had to climb a little bit, and the bears find that easier than we, but of course they have four legs and we only have two.

The second half of the walk, takes place on the other side of the highway, but again in forest area.

We could find all the clues, but we couldn't find the stash box. After a check with the cache owner we knew for sure that we were looking at the right spot, so today we went back, this time parking within 100 meters from the stash location, and found the well hidden box at 16:00.

This making our total number of caches found 325.

Scoffie Cache

Last week we found a coin that only wants to stay in caches laid by Scoffie and the MISSloopsters. Actually we found it in a cache from another cacher so the previous cacher ignored the goal of the coin. We figured out a couple of caches to do, and I solved some of the mysteries. Scoffie and the MISSloopsters is the owner of 200 caches so choices allover. We went for the cache (GCR8NB-Xmas-2005 : Den Atoom(°)).

This was a cache not to hard on paper, but in reality this one was a though one for us. At some way-point we could find the needed information rather well.

But on other points we really had to search hard, because the tags were broken or the GPS-coordinates weren't very accurate.

And then finding the final box was though as well. It took us almost an hour to find this nicely decorated ammo box at 16:00.

There was no time left for another of the multi-caches of which we brought the cache descriptions with us. So we decided to go for a simple Scoffie cache, (GC1NB7Z-Mysterious Tour 5 - (8) Traditional). This one was easy indeed and contained a hint for some of the mystery caches of Scoffie.
We logged this one at 16:45.

Then in the same area a mystery cache of a cacher we once met (GC1NX58-de laatste der taekwondodo's).
Tricky hiding place, but we found it at 17:00

Mie Pils

In the forest near a small village next to ours the cache (GC43A6-De cache van Mie Pils) is hidden, it is an old cache.

There a small lake overthere. And the bears always love that.

And we love to view the fun they have.

Ending the series: 8 Zaligheden

We still had one cache left out of the series of "8 Zaligheden", the cache(GCKK58-8 Zaligheden: Netersel), a nice multi.

At one way-point the cows came looking what we were doing.

It was nice sunny weather and we enjoyed the surroundings.

At certain points it was even to sunny, and almost to warm.

Here relaxing a bit in the shade near a little stream from which the bears could refresh.

We found the stash and wrote our name in the logbook at 14:45

Still some time left for some solved mysteries, like this one (GCX6HK-No sushi today), logged at 15:35

On Sunday we first tried to find the bonus cache of the series, but unfortunately somebody used the cache-site as dump for trash, so we could not search, and informed the cache-owner of this misfortune.
But the series also has an extra sort-of bonus cache, (GCM79W-ONS HUUSKE), for this cache we had to find the tag numbers of two special travel bugs. We gathered those in our previous caching trips.

The walk brought us to a nice meadow area, that we liked a lot.

Even a little swamp like area was part of the walk, fortunately there was a wooden bridge build, so we weren't forced to walk around in the swamp.

At 15:20 we found the cache box.

On our way back we were able to find the cache (GC1MZA9-Heilige Huisjes) at 16:05.

While driving from cache to cache we gathered the information found on the Way-markers needed for the cache (GCY9F7-POK - Wegwijzers).

With all found tags we could calculate the location of the stash and we found it. Sometimes caches are not that hard to find, because of all the woodpiles on top of them.

We wrote our name in the logbook at 17:05.

And because we came in the neighbourhood of the cache (GC1GKQE-VELDHOVEN 5 (Route langs de RUN)), we couldn't resist searching for it again, we tried this one a couple of times before, but weren't successful then.
Now we were and found it at 17:30.

One cache less on our frustration list.

Searching a cache starting with an H

We brought a travel bug from Denmark that wants to stay in caches beginning with the letter H. We couldn't find an appropriate cache in Denmark, so now back in the Netherlands and after our 300 milestone reach it was time to find a cache for it.
We decided for the cache (GCZEDB - Het Loon), a nice multi cache, we took or bikes to get to the start.

It was a nice walk and when we arrived at the stash location and started searching for the box, we found a black bucket buried in the ground, we immediately thought that the cache was ripped and went home to inform the cache owners of this misfortune.

Back home I read the last logs and figured out that this black bucket had nothing to do with the cache ......
We went back early in the evening and could log at 18:20.

And because we were on the road we decided to go for another one (GCKZ0D - 8 zaligheden: Duizel), a picture cache that we could solve by driving around and go for a short walk we could find the stash at 19:40.

Engineering Nature

And for our number 300 we selected a 5-star difficulty cache (GC1FF01 - Engineering Nature).
The first way point is inside an area where dogs are not allowed, the rest of the walk they are allowed so I decided to look for WP1 separately.
It took a little while before I found the needed information hidden there.

This is the nature reserve that the dogs weren't allowed to enter.

Way point 2 was hidden in a forest area.

And the next way point also were located in this forest.

At some points the dogs could walk freely of the leash.

And they helped us search for the next hiding place.

And they could also find water to enjoy.

We found the stash box and logged at 15:10.

Still time left, we decided to pick up a couple of trads and solved mysteries in the neighbourhood.
The first of a series of 5(GC1DFX9 - Blik op Laarbeek 3:Mariahout), that we logged at 15:55

The second a simple mystery (GC1HXHG - NMPS: Breinkronkels) that I solved, also of a series of 5.
Found the nano and logged it at 16:35

Then another of the same series (GC1HXJR - NMPS: ReflectieeitcelfeR), found it and logged it at 17:05.

Then we found the cache (GC1HV4V - Lieshout en zijn Molens: Vogelenzang) at 17:15.
And very close by the solved mystery (GC14XRR - Biologisch, heel logisch!), a very nice mystery with very old vegetables, that I had to ask my mother about. Found it at 17:25

And then the last of the day a mystery cache (GC1DK4T - Goed Kijken!!!), near an animal farm.

Difficult Mysteries

Having a total of 297 caches we decided to go for two caches to set our total on 299.
There is mystery (GCRK8R - Theyeti 8 : Eavesdropper)
that I solved, that we tried to find before but then the calculations weren't correct. Having corrected that at home, and since a very interesting travel bug was inside this cache, we went for it.
The bears enjoyed the small canal nearby.

It was about 4 months that this cache was last found but we managed to find it and log at 15:15.

And this mystery (GC1QAYH - Magma Reagan) I was able to solve during our holiday. It is hidden not to far from our home so we decided to try to find it, which we managed to do at 16:25.

And now we are ready for a new milestone our cache numero 300.

Back to the Netherlands - Westerwolde

We picked up a coin that wanted to go to Hamburg, Germany. We figured out a cache along the highway not to far from Hamburg (GCNFYK - OsteTal), we combined it with a well deserved rest from the drive from Denmark.

We logged it at 15:00 and left the coin behind.

We made stop in the North of the Netherlands because to drive home in one go would be to far.
In the neighbourhood of the camping site of choice a couple of caches were hidden. Actually on of those (GC141R3 - Koppie koppie) started at the entrance of the camping site.
While walking the route we by accident discovered the stash of the cache (GC1Q2T9 - Noorder rondrit ~ De Bonus), a bonus cache of a bicycle trip around the area. We logged this one at 20:45.

We also passed by a virtual cache (GCJ8BN - The Big Crash), a crash site of two airplanes a couple of years ago.
We passed by at 21:30.

We discovered the stash of the (GC141R3 - Koppie koppie) cache at 22:00, just before dark.

And then the next day before driving home we decided to go for a multi-cache (GC13AJR - Mooi Westerwolde), that also starts at the entrance of the camping site.
A nice walk in a forest area, with sunny weather.

It was a very nice forest but with a lot of ticks, that were crawling around in the coat of the bears. I catch-ed almost one hundred of those dreadful animals.

We logged it at 13:00 and went back to our motor home to drive homeward.

(Møgel) Tønder

Our last stop in Denmark would be on a camping site in Tønder. We visited Mogel Tønder about three years ago with our oldest bear Toby, Brego wasn't born yet, and we still had our old motor-home.
We walked across the beautiful village Mogel Tønder.

We found the first cache (GC1G4RR - Æ kagmand)

We logged it at 15:05, it was a nano as you can see in this next picture.

The next cache was in a very nice spot (GC1G44E - Liebestempel), we had to search very thoroughly

This again was a nano and we were able to find it and log it at 15:25.

The third in row was the cache (GC1PYJK - den brandgoe tønder), it was hidden near a fire station, and hidden in a place that we wouldn't have found without the hint helping us.
We logged this one at 15:50.

And the last of the day was the cache (GC15A1M - Tønder Festival), hidden in an area were the Festival is taking place once a year. It wasn't that time of the year so it was very quiet around here now.

We were able to find it again hidden in a sneaky way and log it at 16:00.

So we were ready to go back to the camping site to relax a little bit.

And then for this last caching day in Denmark we went fir a biking trip to the scenic village of Møgeltønder.
It was a very nice sunny day so when we arrived it was time to rest a little bit and have something to drink.

The multi-cache (GC1B8WP - Schakenborg Møgeltønder) is a walk that leads through this nice village. So since we enjoy multi's more than anything we went for it.

We had to count the number of entrances tot he graveyard.

The walk also brought us to the entrance of the castle where the Prince of Denmark is living.

And some more beautiful spots in this small historical village, at one point we had to figure out the stash location that was located in a park. We couldn't find the box at the first place that we searched.

After some trial and error I discovered our mistake, we had the wrong number of crowns. Once that was corrected we found the box, and could log at at 14:45.

This was the last cache we found in Denmark and our number 292 cache found.

Gronninghoved Strand

Next stop in Denmark was Gronninghoved Strand on the mainland. We found a camping site nearby the shore but also with a forest in the back yard.

After we arrived and were a little bit settled down it was time for a walk in the neighbourhood and a little tour passing by some caches.
The first cache we found is a cache laid down by a Dutch team in the early days of geocaching.

Next into the forest hills to find the next (GC1DZ9D - On the way to Skamlingsbanken)

We logged it at 17:30
And then we walked back to the camping site to get something to eat.

Next day it was time for some other caches in the area nearby the camping site.
Today we left the camping site via the backdoor directly into the forest.

We walked up the hill to arrive at a very nice place.

We made this picture at 13:20, and could find the needed answer to the question.

The also on top of the mountain the cache (GC1656V - Skamlingsbanken) was hidden. Actually it was hidden in a meadow where sheep were grazing, so our bears would have loved to gather them around, but ofcourse they couldn't and had to stay on the leash.

Faaborg - Fynen

Yesterday we went on the way to the third island of Denmark, Fynen. We first stopped to pick up a mystery cache for which I had to play on a jukebox all night long to finally get the Super Jackpot being 4 geocaching logo's on the roll.
This cache (GC13C3J - Super Jackpot) was hidden in Odense, where we passed by on our way to the South of the Island.

We logged it at 13:15.

The we arrived at the camping site in Faaborg. We relaxed a bit and after dinner we went for a multi cache nearby (GC107C3 - Tårnet i bakkerne) a not to long cache that guided us through very beautiful nature.
First we had to gather information at some sort of information point.

Beautiful nature and beautiful weather, life is good.

At one way-point we had to read information on a statue, but cattle had gathered.

We looked at them for a short while from behind a fence, and the we thought they were very gentle and only very curious so one of us was brave enough to go and look for the information we needed.

To find the cache-box wasn't easy at all, and took almost an hour of so to find it.
But we finally found it at 20:30, time for coffee back at the motor home.

The boys waiting while I write the logbook, and catching a lot of ticks, at the camping site I removed about one hundred of those terrible bugs from them, running around in their furry coat.

Today we went for a series of caches called Fyn er fin in the very nice area Svanninge Hills.

The first cache we found was (GCTX64 - Fyn er fin #3). We logged it at 13:30.

And we left one of our own TB's in this cache-box. TB Dog's or Bears. Good journey...

We passed by a virtual cache (GCKX13 - TROLL). We made the picture at 13:55.

The next cache we visited (GCTX62 - Fyn er fin #1), we logged it at 14:05.

In this area also another cache (GCHAV2 - Svanninge Hills) is hidden that is not part of the series but we searched for it anyhow. Logged it at 14:55.

Sometimes when we are searching for the caches the boys need to wait patiently for us to find it.

Next cache of the series (GCTX63 - Fyn er fin #2) logged at 15:15.

We walked around in astonishing nature, that wasn't punishment at all.

The fourth cache of the series (GCTX67 - Fyn er fin #4) logged at 15:30.

Then we could go for the final of the series (GCTXKK - Fyn er fin #5), but first we had to combine all the letters we found in caches #1 thru #4 into a local speciality, we didn't have a clue what it should be so I visited the golf-club nearby to ask for help. A lady there was able with some logic from my side to figure out the word we needed. She never ate it herself but heard of it. We went for the coordinates and found the stash, logged it at 16:30.

Sorø

Next location: Sorø on the island Sjaelland, we arrived here yesterday.
Our motor home was parked at a beautiful spot on the camping site overlooking the lake.
The dogs needed to stretch their legs after the drive, and a short multi-cache (GC1KVBZ - Sorø Natur #3) was hidden within 1 KM from the camping site so I took the bears and walked over there.

Here the bears are posing at the statue with the needed information.

Logged it at 15:40.

The view from the cache site was worth it.

I continued the walk and we walked around the lake and then returned back to the motor home for some coffee. The view on the lake and surrounding areas are beautiful.

In the early evening we went for another walk in a forest nearby, it was a traditional cache (GCMMP2 - LIMA) in a very very nice forest indeed.

Logged it at 20:25.

Today we wanted to go for a multi cache (GC1KVBZ - Sorø Natur #3), but we had to walk almost 4 KM's to reach the start of the cache.

It brought us to a larger lake than the one that we were camping at.

A lake with enough water to drink from.

A way-point where we had to gather some information.

We found the stash at 15:40.

It was hidden in a swamp like area.

We noticed that a cache (GC1R0DX - Sorø Natur #6 - Pavillonen) was hidden within 1 KM of this spot and decided to go for it.
We logged that one at 16:15.

The view over the lake was astonishing.

We had two options go back or continue with the walk around this lake, we choose the last option and walked back to the camping site, making a total of 13 KM's for today. Time to relax back at the motor home.

Brøndby

Next place to stay was Brøndby, an area in Kopenhagen. This was the camping site most closely to the town center but still to far to walk. We arrived here yesterday, on the drive over here we first visited a beautiful site called Stevns Klint, one of the highest cliffs in Denmark.
At this location three caches are located.
The first (GC1QN2C - Stevns Klint), one of the few earth caches in Denmark and the only one that we passed by on our holdiday.
Logged this one at 11:25

A traditional (GCZPBG - Under den "halve kirke") is hidden underneath the church somewhere on the cliffs, it was not that easy to find the box but I succeeded at 11:40.

Last to do at this spot a short multi cache (GCZQF4 - ABSALON's Hemmelighed).

Logged this one at 12:00.

Then the drive towards Kopenhagen. In the evening we tried to walk a night cache not to far from the camping site but probably our flash light wasn't powerfull enough because we couldn't even find the first reflector. But near the start of this cache a traditional (GC164CR - Brøndby - Hovedstaden - Danmark) is hidden as well, and we were able to find that one. So in the dark a little bit of a night cache after all.

Today we wanted to go for a multi-cache and a couple of mystery caches that I was able to solve.
The first one was a mystery (GC1BCDQ - Hvad vej skal jeg gå?), we walked towards it in beautiful weather.

We found and logged it at 12:50

The route went to the park of the cache.

We noticed that we passed by a traditional (GC1DT54 - Blå Aventurin) so we decided to try and find that one also. It was in a large open area where the dogs were able to run freely, they even met a Danish dog, actually it was a Golden retriever. And they ran together in this pieceful area.

The cache was hidden in an area with new trees, coming from the Netherlands and caches are almost always burried near a tree root somewhere we were looking for this here as well, then we discovered the box just plain without material on top of it under a branch of a tree. Yes the box was painted with camouflage paint but never the less funny.

Next back to the park, we ran into a big road that we weren't able to cross on foot. We had to make a little detour to reach a crossing. And with a couple of KM's extra we reached the park at last.
It was a very beautiful park and we could find all the information needed, but the calculated end coordinates marked the spot in the middle of a freshly planted flowerbed so we decided to leave the cache and walk back to the camping site.

On the way back to the camping site we went for the last cache of today a mystery (GC1J08H - Pentagon) that I solved.

Rødvig by bicylce

Yesterday we walked in this area. Today we decided to take the bicycle and in this manner try to find caches a little bit further away and visit Boesdal an old limestone quarry.
First we passed by the little town Rødvig. Three caches are hidden here.
The first one (GCZTHE - Rødvig Fiskerihavn), hidden in the fish harbour.
There was a steep stair and we decided to let the dogs rest a little bit from the walk beside the bike and that I would try to find the cache below.

And I succeeded and discovered the cache hidden in a very special way. Logged at 12:20.

With lovely sunny weather always nice to be at the sea side.

The second near the station (GCZTHH - Rødvig Station), a very short ride towards into the village.
Again while the dog rest a little bit.

I go out to find the cache near the station.

And again success. Logged at 12:45.

Back to the rest of the team for some coffee.
After that we continued with a short trip to the next location (GCZTHG - Rødvig Strand) at the beach. Again a steep stair so we decided again for me to go out alone while all the boys stayed behind.

Next we went for an area called Boesdal. It is an old lime quarry that is no longer active and open to public.
In this area a challenging multi is hidden and a couple of traditionals as well.
We parked our bikes near the bake ovens where a cache is hidden but somebody was mowing the lawn so the cache had to wait.
The next in line was the cache (GCHCX0 - The Pyramid).

It was hidden on the shore, we had to climb a little to reach it, and there is only one of us that is able to climb at heights and he had rested enough at the previous caches.

In between we were looking for the way-points of the multi cache of course, walking around in the quarry.

For one of the way-points we needed to find something on the beach. For the dogs always fun.

At this moment we figured out the locations of the stash of the multi but we guessed that this location was at the top of the cliffs. This was a wrong guess, when we arrived at the top, we say that we were still a couple of meters away from the location. We needed to go down, but that wasn't possible at that location so we had to go back all the way. We were all tired and we decided that I would go back to the beach in the early evening without the dogs to try to find the stash.
On the way back to our bikes we stumbled across the cache (GCX72G - Boesdal Kalkbrud) that we logged at 16:30

And back at the bikes the lawn mower was gone and we found the cache (GCX72F - Boesdal Kalkovne)

So as told above after dinner it was a bicycle ride back to the cache location (GCWK88 - Boesdal) to try and reach it from the beach.
It was an 800 meters walk along the stone beach not to easy to walk on.
Arriving at the spot, here the cliffs that we stood on this afternoon when we discovered that the cache-box was downs below.

Rødvig by foot

The next stop in Denmark was on a camping site near Rødvig on the island Sjaelland.
We arrived there and went for a walk in the area. We figured out a route that would bring us along a number of caches near the shore that was doable. It was a bit of a challenge since we don't have Topo maps of Denmark on our GPS. So we had to guess which path to take.

The cache-name says something about a view, and that was astonishing.

At one point it almost felt like we were in the Caribbean iso Denmark.

Denmark, the Isle Lolland

Yesterday we arrived in Denmark, the first Island we visited is called Lolland, and we picked a camping-site in the west-part of this Island near a place called Albuen.
Outside the camping-site a cache was hidden (GC1R7X9 - Albuen), that was only visited once before us.
This was our first second-to-find ever. Logged it as our number 249 at 19:45.

Today we took the bikes to ride to a place called Lango. In the harbour over there a cache (GC1D8AD - Langø Havn) waiting to be discovered. We could log this one at 15:00 and rode back to the camping site to relax a little bit. This was the number 250 the goal we set for Denmark.

Fehmarn, Germany

Yesterday (Friday 15 May) we drove away with our motor home for our holiday in Denmark. Not wanted to drive to Denmark in one go, we stopped near the location of the boat towards Denmark on Fehmarn in Germany.
After settling down there and having dinner we went for a small walk in the neighbourhood and started with a multi-cache (GCQNFT - Durch die Wildnis) but we couldn't finish that one before dark. But we were able to find the a traditional (GC184HK - Wer rastet, der rostet!!!)

Today we wanted to finish the multi cache we started yesterday before taking the boat to Denmark. In the same area a couple of traditionals are hidden that we went for also.
The weather was not to good, it rained and therefore a lot of snails where there.

The first traditional we came across (GC1AMJ9 - A1 Der Brandung so nah) we logged at 11:50.

The second one (GC1BNQN - Fehmarn-Beach) should be laying under the roots of a tree. We first looked at the wrong tree.

But could find the box after all at 12:15.

Then the third traditional today (GC19ME9 - Obelix Hinkelsteine), the bears waiting in the rain for us to log the cache, logged at 12:25.

Then further with the multi-cache. We had to go down to the beach, due to the rain it was very slippery. We slipped a couple of times despite wearing hiking boots.

But we managed to reach the beach and could go for the next way-point.

We found all way-points and calculated the stash location. It took a little search but then we spotted this stack of wood.

And underneath the box was hidden. Logged at 13:10 making our total caches found before Denmark 248.

We could now head out for the boat, Denmark here we come.

Preparing for holiday caches

At the end of the week we will go on a holiday to Denmark. Since we thought it to be a good idea to log our 250th cache in Denmark, and we had some solved mysteries laying around we decided to find these caches to make our number caches found somewhat closer to the magic number. In case we couldn't find a lot of caches in Denmark.
Wednesday 13 May we went for a couple of caches in Limburg Belgium, the first (GC1NA85 - Spookstad) a cache hidden in a ghost town as the name suggests.
We logged it at 18:00.

The next cache was (GC12RT8 - Gemini 2), a 5-star mystery that was sort of in the neighbourhood of the first one.
We logged this one at 18:45.

The hiding place was kind a funny, this was our second try to find this one, the last time we couldn't find it and now we immediately spotted it. Kinda strange we think.

On Thursday 14 May I wanted to drop a coin that wanted to stay in the Netherlands and therefore couldn't go on holiday with us.
For this honour I chose the cache (GCK98X - 8 Zaligheden: Eersel), number 6 out of a series of 8 caches.
Under two rocks the hint explains. Well here they are.

Milleniumbug

This Saturday we wanted to walk the cache (GCMV4Z - Theyeti 3: CLRYB CRTUS), a cache with a very tough puzzle to solve, but I managed to do that so we new the start coordinates and we decided to go for it.
To arrive at these coordinates was a tough job as well, considering the big road reconstruction going on in this area. We didn't succeed in arriving at the official parking spot, but after driving around for almost an hour for several approaches we decided to find an alternative parking area.
The walk itself brought to us to a very nice forest area in Germany-Netherlands border area. I think we walked in Germany most of the time. But the start and finish was in the Netherlands.

We spotted some beetles having fun in horse-pooh.

Waiting while I go looking for a number that we needed.

And this was a way-point as well, very nice tricky way-point where we had to climb in the three to find the needed information.

Unfortunately we weren't able to find the final cache-box, but we were looking at the right spot, we checked with the owner. We will come back here to try to find the cache for sure.
This was a rather long walk and drive so we had a couple of solved mystery caches with us and this one was along the road home. The one we went for was (GCQ5A2 - Millenniumbug).

Travelbird Series

In our region a series of Travel-Bird caches exist. Caches of different type with bird names, hiding a clue for the final of the series. Earlier we already visited two travel-bird caches, but we had still three caches left of this serie.
For one of the travel-bird caches it is necessary to get hold of a certain TB (TB Huismus), that has a key connected to it that opens the cache. We track this TB for a while now, and on Sunday we received a notification that this travelbug landed in a mystery cache (GC18DRW - Memoriekruis), that I was able to solve rather quickly. Early evening Monday 26 April we decided to give it a try in gathering the TB Huismus. We drove 60 KM to the south and could find the cache and log it at 18:30 and we took the TB.

Yesterday we went for the cache of the Huismus (GCTTRM - TB4: De Huismus) which we could find easily and log it at 12:45. It was hidden in a bird-house as all caches of this series.

Boring that caching, the boys are relaxing and looking around. We hadn't walked a long part, so the bears still waiting for that big walk.

Next we went for another one of the travel-bird caches (GCTTRQ - TB3: De Gele Kwikstaart) logged it at 13:15.

And last but not least we had to find a cache to drop the TB Huismus in again, it only allowed to stay in a cache in 20 KM radius from his home, and we decided to leave it in the cache (GCGD5X - Woudlopers 6: Aards Paradijs)
This cache was a hard one to take. It took us on a hike in a beautiful area, but with very steep climbs and descents.
But we had to find clues on very original spots. We had to climb ropes.

Climb in "Snake"-pits.

Use tires to cross "canyons".

And climb three hills.

The dogs could walk up quicker than we could.

But we managed and on top of the hills the view was rewarding.

This is the profile of the walk in this beautiful paradise, making it visible how steep the climbs and descents were.

But the reward was high when we found the container and could leave the TB behind, we logged it as our # 236 at 19:15.

Today we went for the fifth and last of the Travel-Bird series, (GCTT2W - TB2: De Valk), a short multi.

Again a bird-house that hide the cache.

Logged it at 14:15.

With this last one we could figure out the coordinates for the bonus (GCTTRK - TBB: De Ekster)

A spider decided to go and live in this cache-box and a lot of spiderwebs with catches were inside and on the jar that contained the stash.

Logged it as our #238 at 15:15.

Finish of Genneper Park

With the information found on Friday we could look for the bonus-cache (GC1GHYD - Genneper Hymne / Bonus: Encore), for this we needed information on the Internet and we weren't able to finish this on Friday. Today we were in the neighbourhood to finish another series and therefore we could finish this series as well.

Genneper Parken Continued

I have visited the Genneper Parken a couple of times now. Friday evening we decided to go as a team to try to find the remaining caches, and finish a couple of the series over there.
The first thing to do was to look for the clue in a cache for a bonus cache that I missed when I logged that cache before.
The second thing to do was to find a new clue for a cache that recently changed that I missed the last time I was here, due to an old print-out of the cache.
Then up to the first cache (GC1FDNR - Genneper Hymne / Deel 2: Allegro), a micro that kept me busy, the first time I was over here I had an old print-out and got the wrong hint, so I searched on the wrong spot and couldn't find it. The next time I was here a muggle was very interested in what I was doing as a female alone sniffing around, and he asked whether I lost something. I decided to cancel my search and come back another time. Now was that moment and I immediately found the canister, log-time 18:30.

Next cache (GC1AY9E - Tik eens een blauw eitje) was one that I searched before, I was searching for a blue egg as the title of the cache mentions. I was here once before but couldn't search thoroughly due to a lot of people and dogs around at that time. Now it was a less busy and again almost immediately spotted the blue egg and logged it at 18:50.

We now had all the information available to try and find a bonus cache (GC1H9XV - Rondje Gennep).
On the way over there Tobold had to walk in the water in front of the swimming pool "De Tongelreep". He is really enjoying this.

Then we needed to wait at a busy spot before the cache could be logged. This is the way through from the parking lot to the swimming pool and a lot of people pass by here. How can you dive into the bushes without being seen?

But one of us managed to do this and log the cache at 19:18.

For finishing this cache we earned the next banner:

Next to do was to find a canister with a clue for another bonus cache. In this canister we found the following picture. We had to find the sign shown here and replace C, D, E, and F with the found numbers at the real sign.

With the found clues we could calculate the start coordinates of the bonus-cache (GC1FZQ1 - Genneper Hymne / Deel 5: Grande Finale), a short multi that brought to a couple of nice spots beside the small river Tongelreep, that Tobold couldn't resist and had to enter at one spot.

We found the cache and were able to log at 21:25 just before getting dark.

And on the way back to the car we were able to find the cache-box of the multi (GCJK03 - Genneper Parken) that I was searched and sort of found (empty hole) for some time ago at the old spot. Now at the correct new location.
